TOP REAL ESTATE AGENT IN VIRGINIA KEVIN TAYLOR
When Top Agent Kevin Taylor got out of the Navy in 2013, he had a few new careers in mind, but real estate wasn’t one of them. That is, until he purchased a home and saw how much his REALTOR® enjoyed the profession. “I saw the opportunity to spread joy, make a good living, and time to spend with my family,” he recalls. “He said he thought I’d be great at it and should give it a try.” Kevin’s agent was right. He got his license and has enjoyed success in the business ever since.
Now top real estate agent in Virginia Kevin Taylor and his business partner Jason Houser, along with two additional agents, Service the Hampton Roads Community and outlying areas with residential real estate services. “The area is a big melting pot,” Kevin explains. “People are constantly coming and going.” Kevin credits his time in the Navy with giving him a competitive advantage in the world of real estate. “Being in the military helps you learn to work with all different kinds of people,” he says. “And there is a ‘never quit, never give up’ attitude that is built into my mentality. Real estate can be somewhat unstructured, but I carried the structure of my Navy life over into my real estate career.”
In an industry that’s known for “sheepdogs and wolves,” Kevin places himself squarely in the “sheepdogs” category. “I’m always looking for out my clients and protecting their best interests,” he says. “My clients aren’t just my clients, they all become my friends. I make it a point to stay in touch, stop by for visits, and drop off gifts for special occasions.” He tells the story of a recent transaction that he decided to work on pro bono. “I had a client who wanted to sell a home but it was in such bad condition, we couldn’t sell it as anything other than an investor’s special,” Kevin recalls. “We had to sell for less than he wanted so I felt the right thing to do was not take the commission on either side. I really just wanted to see him succeed.”
During his time in the military, Kevin lived by the philosophy of God, Country, Family; he has developed a similar philosophy for his real estate life. “Now it’s clients, above self,” he says. “My clients always come first and I want to help them get where they want to be; I’m always there for them,” he continues. “I work every day from 7 to 7 but my clients know they can reach me any time with a text.”While it takes many new agents several years to start being recognized in the industry, Kevin has already been singled out for several coveted honors. “I earned the Rookie of the Year Award in 2014, and so far I’ve received the Gold Circle of Excellence Award for my first two years in the business, and just recently was awarded Creed Realties Pebble Award, for most transactions in 2015.”
Kevin believes in giving back to the communities that support his business. He is active in the Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity, among others. He also recently started his own nonprofit, Veterans for Change. “We’re still getting off the ground and our goal is to help veterans who are struggling with returning to civilian life,” Kevin explains. “It can be very difficult to navigate the process and find a new job with structure.” Looking to the future of his business, Kevin would like to grow the team to include at least five additional agents, with every team member working exclusively by referral.
